Co-operation between organisations is based on functional interaction and genuinely multidisciplinary collaboration. Among the fields strongly represented in Tampere, particular focus is being placed on medical and technological research and co-operation between the two local universities. Our researchers have gained excellent international appraisal for their scientific expertise, which, when combined with the Academy of Finland's Centres of Excellence, forms a solid basis for research activities.

The fields of immunology and vaccinations, implants, biomaterials and tissue technology, as well as information technology, bioinformatics and imaging have gained significant scientific recognition and generated successful business.
